Dr. Karyn Trader-Leigh
Dr. Karyn Trader-Leigh provides consulting in organization development, cultural competence, managing change and human capital development. She has a passion for work related to achieving a just and inclusive multicultural society based on principles of democracy and whole systems engagement. Her portfolio includes a strong focus on leadership development systems, developing strategic diversity initiatives and actionable strategies to respond to changing demographics, globalization, and corporate commitments to inclusion.
Karyn has developed and currently leads several leadership institutes. She has been involved in several national public policy research studies looking at issues that disproportionately impact marginalized communities. Her findings have been included in several reviews at the National Press Club. Her most recent publication “Understanding the Role of African American Churches and Clergy in Community Crisis Response” is identified on several National Disaster Response Websites as a resource for culturally competent public health responses in disaster planning and preparedness.
Her extensive work in diversity has included helping organizations implement corporate diversity initiatives in major corporations, conducting global organization assessments on equity issues for international NGO’s , working with committed leaders, training managers and employees, coaching consultants and training facilitators in diversity work. Her work includes assisting organizations implement corporate wide diversity initiatives, build the business case, and integrate diversity into the business strategy of the organization. She has assisted Save the Children International, and the United Way with business case development.
Her article on Identifying Resistance in Managing Change, received recognition for ranking among the top 200 most downloaded articles from a data base of 50,000 journal articles, subscribed to worldwide from the London based Journal of Change Management. She has consulted in Eastern Europe, lectured in the Peoples Republic of China, presented papers in Britain, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, The Czech Republic and lived and worked in a war torn country in West Africa. Current KTA clients include the Army Research Laboratory, The HBCU Library Alliance and a partnership with the Taia Peace Foundation. She is a senior associate with The National Multicultural Institute where she has worked extensively with government, and nonprofit clients. Dr. Leigh Chairs the Prince William County VA.
